‘Kaleidoscope’ is a recent perspective on 21st century jazz by Melbourne bass player, composer and producer Chris Frangou. He is best known for his work with Mulatu Astatke (Ethiopia), Black Jesus Experience, Paul Reid, Bob Sedergreen and Maia Von Lekow (Kenya).

‘Kaleidoscope’ features Hue Blanes on electric and acoustic pianos and Matt Head on drums. The energy, spontaneity and groove of Frangou’s multi-layered odd-time compositions find its origins in music from the Balkans, East Africa and the Middle East whilst also incorporating practices from the schools of rock, funk, hip-hop and other improvised idioms. The album features guests Tom Fryer, Ian Dixon and Panagiotis Andreou (USA).
